Smallholders Insurance

SMALLHOLDERS INSURANCE – PROTECTING YOUR SMALLHOLDING

Is there a smallholders insurance policy?

As a smallholder your insurance needs are unlikely to be covered in regular household contents insurance. You need to find yourself specifically underwritten smallholders insurance that will cover your livestock and other incidentals.

There are some insurance companies out there that have realised there is a growing need for smallholders insurance to cover:

  • Alpacas
  • Cattle
  • Goats
  • Pigs
  • Poultry
  • Sheep
  • Transportation of Livestock
  • Working Dogs

Insurance is one of those bills that we just don’t like paying for. But as a smallholder, can you really afford not to have smallholding insurance in place?

  1. Dear sir,

We run a very small smallholding currently 1.5 acres which is rented, we have approx 10 goats and 4 – 12 rare breed pigs, wehave some equipment in a store/shed on site (very close to our house).

Do you have suitable insurance to cover accident (third party) and cover for loss/theft of the animals.

We are considering doubling the land to 3 acres and also keeping a horse, please again can you let me know what would be suitable cover.

Additionally please detail costs for this cover.

    Regards

    Andy Hurley
