My Dream Farm – new series for Channel 4

ARE YOU IN THE PROCESS OF SETTING UP YOUR DREAM FARM?

If so, Channel 4 wants to hear from you!

My Dream Farm is a new series for Channel 4, made by Betty, an independent television production company based in London. Betty recently made the successful primetime series, Country House Rescue for Channel 4 which was broadcast over six weeks from Dec 08 – Jan 09.

We have been commissioned by Channel 4 to make six hour-long, primetime programmes following six different people as they leave their ordinary lives behind to start up a new smallholding venture, specialising in anything from cows, sheep, goats or pigs, to fruit, carrots, alpacas or even wild boar.

It’s an exciting project that encapsulates the nation’s increasing interest in issues such as self sufficiency, the origins of our food and the achievability of a lifestyle choice that nurtures the soul as well as the bank balance.

We’re looking for the people who are starting out as new smallholders in this way and would like to share their experience with us and be considered for the programme. People who have decided to ditch their 9 to 5 jobs in order to live the Good Life – whether it’s as a family, alone or in a partnership. We would like to hear from anyone who has a story like this unfolding, or who may know of someone who is undertaking such a project.

Filming will take place from March 2009 for approximately 6 months. We are especially keen to find people whose plans correspond with this time frame; either having started their project in recent months or be planning to move within the next few months.

We are also looking for someone who could be a brilliant expert presenter/mentor to front up all six programmes as the linchpin for the series. Do you know of someone in the farming world who is knowledgeable, experienced in agriculture and business, personable and enthusiastic?

If you do know of someone who is setting up their Dream Farm, or someone who may be qualified to advise and mentor a new farmer, please get in touch with us as soon as possible:
